WHITEFACE CONSOLIDATED INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICTJOINT STATEMENT OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES AND NATE WHEELER

DATE: October 18, 2022

FROM: Nate Wheeler and the Board of Trustees

Nate Wheeler has announced his resignation as Superintendent of Schools for the Whiteface Consolidated Independent School District. An Agreement has been reached which allows Mr. Wheeler the ability to pursue other interests and permits the Board to pursue hiring another Superintendent. The Board and Mr. Wheeler have entered into the Agreement believing it is in their respective best interests and in the best interests of the District.

On behalf of the entire District, the Board of Trustees expresses its sincere appreciation to Mr. Wheeler for his efforts while serving as Superintendent of this great school district and its wonderful students, parents and administrators, and for the many achievements and accomplishments of the entire District team during Mr. Wheeler's tenure as Superintendent. During his tenure the District has seen new growth in long term planning, education, enrollment, and funding.

In addition to significant increases in the M&O and I&S fund balances, another notable achievement was a 462% increase in federal and grant funding, allowing the District to further provide for the needs of our students with various acquisitions, projects, and services. Further, during Mr. Wheeler's tenure, the District increased average daily attendance by 9.6%, reducing recapture while increasing state funding. As an educational leader, Mr. Wheeler also established an Administrative team focused on individualized student performance growth and a robust staff retention and recruitment plan that includes highly competitive teacher salaries and an employee retirement plan. Mr. Wheeler also developed and implemented a long-range plan to promote future student success.

Mr. Wheeler thanks the present and past Board of Trustees for providing him with the opportunity to serve in the Whiteface Consolidated Independent School District. A school district is measured by the commitment of the Board, staff and community to its children and their achievement. This District and the WCISD Family is indeed so committed. Mr. Wheeler would like to express his heartfelt appreciation to the staff and community for their support of the District's programs and services during his term as Superintendent.

Success requires hard work, dedication, leadership and vision. The Board and Mr. Wheeler wish to acknowledge and recognize the teachers, principals, administrators, staff, students, parents, community, and patrons who have all contributed to and made the District's accomplishments possible. Without a doubt, the unified collaborative effort of the people of Whiteface and Whiteface CISD make this place as great as it is.

The Board extends its best wishes to Mr. Wheeler in his future endeavors. On its part, the Board will soon begin its search for a new Superintendent as not to disrupt the District's operations.
